Message from the Managing Artistic Director

A Tapestry event is unique. Where else can you chat with a composer, wrangle with a writer, or give the director the benefit of your opinions?

We invite you to wrap your heart and mind around the concept of a family who cares deeply for each other – creative artists, designers, singing actors, directors, musicians and audience – all engaged in the process of emotional discovery through this most inclusive of art forms.

Be part of the continuity of creation. From the dazzling 5-minute Opera Briefs of the this year’s Composer-Librettist Laboratory (Liblab) to the tragi-comedic 15-minute operas of Opera to Go, Tapestry’s creative engine is revving up to deliver high octane entertainment across a season of premieres.

It is a particular joy to partner with Theatre Direct Canada to premiere Sanctuary Song, birthed several years ago at the Liblab by the brilliant team of Chan and Richardson, nurtured by Lynda Hill, and now moving back home with a whole new family attached.

Partnership is in fact the essence of everything we are at Tapestry. We look forward to growing our partnership with you, our wise and wonderful audience, as we discover together all that is new and exciting in the world of opera.

Sincerely,
