Tom Diamond, Resident Director

Tom’s award-winning productions have been seen on the stages of the finest theatre and opera companies in North America. He has staged nine operas for the Canadian Opera Company including internationally acclaimed productions of Giasone and La Calisto by Cavalli, an award-winning production of Handel’s Julius Caesar and most recently Don Giovanni by Guiseppe Gazzaniga. For Tapestry, Mr. Diamond developed and staged: the world premiere of Chan Ka Nin’s Iron Road (with librettist Mark Brownell), a bilingual (Cantonese-English) opera about the building the Canadian railroad (Dora Mavor Moore award as 2001’s Outstanding New Musical); the national tour of Theresa Tova’s Still the Night; and Opera to Go in 2006. He also staged Opera to Go 2008,presented in association with Harbourfront Centre’s World Stage which included Tapestry’s first film, the BRAVO!Fact The Perfect Match. This five minute film will be screened at both the Miami Short Film Festival and the St. Louis International Film Festival. This season he will stage: Guilio Cesare for Indiana University and Tapestry’s Opera To Go 2009 and the world premiere of Omar Daniel and Alex Poch-Goldin’s The Shadow.
